It's smart to not eat animals.

Yes folks, it seems that THIS ARTICLE concludes what I've long suspected - Smart people don't eat meat. Yep, it's true. And you would think it's enough that eating animals contributes to the suffering of thousands of innocent earthlings. But they actually make all kinds of correlations with something called "statistics". These "statistics" indicate that higher IQ scores in youngsters turn into higher percentages of vegetarians as they get to adulthood. But it is true that any study could be interpreted in a variety of ways and have doubt cast on its validity. Thats why I have always believed that educating yourself about the topic is the most likely motivation that people have for choosing not to eat animals.

But if someone wants to do a study to tell me that my fellow veggies are smart, then so be it! Although, I'd rather not be in the class of 'smart' people that identify themselves as vegetarians that eat fish or chicken sometimes. That's where this whole "IQ" thing kind of breaks down.

The overall tone, the up-swing, the bright side though is that the researchers, and doctors agree that eating a vegetarian/vegan diet is wise, regardless of the reason you get there.

Uva Rara Dinner Party A Great Success

Tonight's dinner event was at the upscale and classy Burns Court restaurant, Uva Rara. Approx 50 people were in attendance amongst the beautiful under the tree setting, and perfect weather. The vegan buffet was fantastic with items such as risotto, creamy cannellini, rigatoni, potato salad and more. The chef took pride crafting with substitute products like soy milk & soy butter to make the dishes absolutely delicious!

The night was so glorious we couldn't end it there, so the remaining crew walked a few blocks through downtown for an after dinner drink.

New Coffee Lounge FourGees Serves Vegan Options and REALLY Good Coffee

[bryan, jen, dill, raylon, louise, jim, chris, kris]

Saturday night several of us romped over to the new FourGees Coffee Lounge on Beneva & Webber for their secret "almost grand opening" party. We had the opportunity to meet the vegetarian owners Louise & Jim McKenzie and their four beautiful children.

If you've been in Sarasota long you know there's not a lot happening this part of town. Jim tells me they fell in love with the fact that the building was kinda run down and wanted to breathe new life to it. It's tastefully designed with the cafe on one side and the lounge on the other. Complete with rich wood floors, faux painted walls, sexy wall sconces and a classy granite counter top at the coffee bar. The perfect place to start the day with a morning cup of coffee or end it by meeting a friend for a glass of wine and a veggie sandwich. Put it on you radar, FourGees intends to add culture to this town by incorporating their british style and the large upstairs community room.

They will be adding vegan options in the upcoming week, as they are still stocking the kitchen. If you stop in, tell them VegSarasota sent you. ;)

Peace & Love,
Dill
