Yahoo! News Links Meat & Climate Change

Yahoo News! Actually had on their home page an article linking climate change & meat consumption.

While the story does make it sound like this news is hot-off-the-press, which it's not, at least they're covering it and publishing yet another mainstream account of the facts behind factory farming.

"If people knew that they were threatening the environment by eating more meat, they might think twice before ordering a burger," Brewster said.

Other ways of reducing greenhouse gases from farming practices, like feeding animals higher-quality grains, would only have a limited impact on cutting emissions. Gases from animals destined for dinner plates account for nearly a quarter of all emissions worldwide.

"That leaves reducing demand for meat as the only real option," said Dr. John Powles, a public health expert at Cambridge University, one of the study's authors.

The only disappointing quote was from Dr. Maria Neira of the WHO - implying that this "theory" is brand new and uncertain. I guess she doesn't pay attention to things like the United Nations or even the Huffington Post both of whom who have already acknowledged this undeniable link.

By the time I could even draft this short blog the story got bumped from the home page. So if you have a yahoo login, please rate this story 5 stars so that it will stay at the top of the list!
